Special to the
Opelika Observer
The Fall Boogie is returning for an eighth time to the Standard Deluxe in Waverly on Oct. 12.
The one-day festival will feature artists such as Revel in Dimes, Dexateens, Teardrop City, Bohannons, Neighbor Lady, Exotic Dangers and Dogwood Lung. There will also be local art and farm vendors. Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own chairs as well as beverages and small coolers. However, no glass is allowed inside the venue.
The Fall Boogie is an offset of the spring “Old 280” Boogie, a staple of the Waverly music scene for the last 19 years. Standard Deluxe owner Scott Peek decided to add the fall installment of the Boogie after pleas from the Lee County community and claims that “one Boogie a year (was) not enough!”
Since the start of the Fall Boogie in 2012, its popularity has only continued to grow. Previous performers have included the Alabama Shakes and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Last year, the venue saw more than 800 people in attendance.
Wristbands are $30 both online at www.standardeluxe.com and on the day of the event. Children ages 14 and under are free. Pets are not allowed.
Wristbands will not be mailed, so guests must be sure to pick them up at will-call on festival day. The festival will go on rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable.
Those interested in sponsoring the event also have the opportunity to purchase special ticket bundles in quantities of either 16 or 24. The sponsor’s name will appear on a “thank you” banner at the front gate of the venue.
In even more exciting news, the Standard Deluxe is offering 10 lucky fans spots for camping on-site at the event. Five spots are primitive camping and five are RV parking spots. For more information on camping or to reserve a spot, visit the Fall Boogie ticket page.
