Throughout the summer, the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the Summer Swing Concert Series. Shortly before the concerts begin, a 5k race is held. This event is in its ninth year and has brought together more than 1,000 runners. Each race averages 40-50 runners. Walkers and beginning runners are welcome. Races begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Denson Drive recreation center. Fees are $1 per race or $10 for an entire series. For more information call Doug Underwood at 524-5021 or email durunforfun@yahoo.com
