ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Sealed bids for WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS-LEE ROAD 270 and WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS-US HIGHWAY 29 TANK SITE will be received by the Beulah Utilities District until 3:00 P.M. CDT, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at their office located at 5320 Lee Road 270, Valley, AL 36854 and at said time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS- LEE ROAD 270 – 511003(1) – The project consists of the installation of approximately 22,000 LF of 12” water main; and related appurtenances.  Plans and specifications are available for $100.00 for each set.

WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS-HIGHWAY 29 TANK SITE – 511003(3) – The project consists of the improvements to existing tank site including:  interior and exterior cleaning of 1700M gallon ground storage tank, tank inlet piping modifications, replacement of tank lettering, pump building improvements, yard piping upgrades, control valve upgrades, and demolition of existing 400M gallon standpipe and related appurtenances.  Plans and specifications are available for $50.00 for each set.

The CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND PLANS may be examined at the office of the Beulah Utilities District in Valley, AL, at the office of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. in Montgomery, AL, and in the McGraw-Hill Construction Network®.

Copies of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND PLANS may be obtained at the office of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc.  Said cost represents the cost of printing, reproduction, handling, distribution, etc., therefore no refund shall be granted.   No partial sets, individual pages or drawing sheets will be provided.

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities, or to reject any or all bids, and to award the contract to the best and most responsible bidder.  All bidders shall submit, upon request, a list of projects “successfully completed” in the last 2 years, having the same scope of work and approximate construction cost as specified in this project.  All bidders must comply with requirements of the Contractor’s Licensing Law of the State of Alabama and be certified for the type of work on which the proposal is submitted.  Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the amount, form and subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders.

All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Engineer; the Bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying the license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the Proposal is delivered.

No bidder may withdraw his bid within 90 days after the opening thereof.

All bids should be submitted in the Contract Specifications Book as issued by the Engineer.  All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing on the outside the name of the Bidder, Bidder’s license number, address and name of the project.  Envelopes containing bids must be addressed as follows, and delivered to Mr. Lamar Sims, Chairman, Beulah Utilities District, 5320 Lee Road 270, Valley, AL 36854: “WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS – LEE ROAD 270 and/or WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS – US HIGHWAY 29 TANK SITE”.
