AUBURN — The Auburn Community Orchestra (ACO) will perform its Spring Masterworks: Music of Majesty & Celebration, presented by the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC), on Tuesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center (GPAC). There is no charge for the concert, and tickets may be obtained from the GPAC Box Office or by visiting the event website.
ACO has grown both in numbers and musically over the past two years. These musicians are excited to present an evening of orchestra favorites and timeless spring classics.
ACO is led by Music Director and Conductor Dr. Rusty Logan, who has 33 years of experience as a band director, including 24 years at Auburn High School. He serves as principal trombonist and executive board chair of the Alabama Winds and is the executive director of the Alabama Music Educators Association. A highly sought-after adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor, Dr. Logan brings a wealth of expertise to the podium. Under his direction, the ACO will deliver an exciting and enjoyable program for both the community and visitors at GPAC.
ACO’s program will include
- Music for the Royal Fireworks — Overture, George Frideric Handel
- Pomp and Circumstance No. 4, Edward Elgar
- Symphony No. 100, Joseph Haydn
- Marche Slave, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
