OPELIKA — Southern Union State Community College will offer artificial intelligence awareness and literacy training on Sept. 22. The training is a free, beginner-friendly workshop open to the public.
The class is designed to increase AI literacy and empower individuals, businesses and communities across Alabama to better understand and use emerging technology. Attendees will learn what AI is, how it is already being used in everyday life and some of the ways it can be used to support work, learning and daily activities. The workshops will also address common misconceptions and help dispel myths associated with AI.
Participants will explore real-world AI tools through hands-on activities designed to provide practical knowledge they can begin using immediately. No prior experience with AI is required.
The Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop will be offered on Sept. 22, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in room 203 of the Gary Fuller Business & Technology Center.
Offered as part of the Alabama Community College System AI Community Caravan, little or no prior AI experience is required to attend. To register for the event, sign up at suscc.jotform.com/262394464684065.
