Joshua Dairen will speak Sept. 23 at noon at the Lunch Break Lecture Series for the Museum of East Alabama. His lecture will be: “Talking to Ghosts: How Embracing the Paranormal Preserves Our History.”
Dairen explains his talk, “We are told that we should fear anything that has to do with the supernatural. We fear what we don’t understand, but the paranormal does something special that every community needs — it brings us face to face with our past and creates the spark that continues to drive legacy and preservation. If it wasn’t for what goes bump in the night, much of what we know to be our history and who were foundational in shaping it would never have had a voice to speak again. This lecture explores what it means to really talk to ghosts and why we can’t be afraid to discover what they’ve been trying to say about our past.” CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
