OPELIKA — Southern Union State Community College is offering noncredit real estate licensing courses this fall for individuals preparing to enter the real estate profession and newly licensed salespersons completing Alabama’s post-license requirements.
The 60-hour Real Estate Pre-License course is designed to provide aspiring real estate professionals with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to pursue an Alabama salesperson license and prepare for the state licensing examination. The course covers topics including agency relationships and contracts, property ownership, real estate finance, valuation, conveyance, marketing regulations, property management and real estate calculations. The course will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Sept. 9 through Nov. 18 at Southern Union’s Opelika Campus. The cost is $776.
The 30-hour Real Estate Post-License course is designed for newly licensed salespersons transitioning from a temporary to a permanent license. Participants will gain practical knowledge in business planning, client management, property listings, marketing, negotiation, transaction coordination, closing procedures, risk management and Alabama’s legal and ethical responsibilities. The course will meet Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Sept. 8 through Nov. 10 at the Opelika Campus. The cost is $388.
The Alabama Real Estate Commission requires completion of the 60-hour pre-license course before taking the salesperson licensing examination. Temporary salesperson licensees must also complete the 30-hour post-license course within the required timeframe to transition to a permanent license.
