OPELIKA — Grillers across the region are invited to take part in one of downtown Opelika’s most anticipated summer events. The 12th Annual Burger Wars returns Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m., bringing together local flavor and friendly competition.

Teams are now registering to compete in three categories, including Pro for restaurants and culinary professionals, Corporate for business teams and Amateur Tailgater for backyard grillers. Each team will serve burger samples to attendees and compete for judges’ awards and Crowd Favorite recognition.

“Burger Wars has become such a special tradition for our community,” said Brooke Kastner, the 2026 chairperson of Burger Wars. “It’s incredible to see so many people come together to enjoy great food, support local businesses and make a meaningful impact for organizations doing important work right here at home.”

Participation offers grillers the opportunity to showcase their skills, represent their business or team and be part of one of downtown Opelika’s most popular annual events. Winners in each category receive cash prizes, trophies and year-long bragging rights.

The event is free to attend, with tasting tickets available for purchase on site. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations including the Food Bank of East Alabama.

“Whether you’re competing on the grill or sampling burgers with friends and family, Burger Wars offers something for everyone,” said Kastner. “It’s a fun, energetic event that highlights the best of our community while supporting causes that truly make a difference.”

Burger Wars will take place in downtown Opelika on June 6, beginning at 11 a.m. Teams must register in advance and space is limited.
