Program will expand learning, care and convenience for pre-k families
OPELIKA — The Greater Peace Child De- velopment Center, a trusted leader in early childhood education and home to Alabama’s nationally recognized First-Class Pre-K program, is proud to announce the launch of its newest initiative: Adven- ture Academy.
Adventure Academy is an academically enriched, hands-on learning experience designed exclusively for students enrolled in our Alabama First Class Pre-K classrooms. This exciting new classroom enhances student development through engaging activities, structured enrichment and purposeful learning through play, all in a safe, nurturing environment.
Adventure Academy was created with working fam- ilies in mind. The program offers:
• Early drop-off beginning at 7 a.m.
• Extended day hours from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
• Childcare on most days when First Class Pre-K & Opelika City Schools are closed
• Childcare during specific dates: fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas break
• Six weeks of summer programming
• Summer hours: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Breakfast, lunch and
snack provided at no addi- tional cost
“This program is about meeting the real needs of real families,” said Clar- inda J. Turner, executive director for the GreaterPeace Community Devel- opment Corporation. “Ad- venture Academy ensures children continue learning, growing and thriving, even when traditional school schedules don’t align with parents’ work schedules.”
The program features:
• Academic enrichment activities
• Hands-on STEM ex- ploration
• Literacy and math extension
• Creative arts
• Social-emotional devel- opment
• Structured play and movement
• Registration is now open.
• Registration Fee: $100 per student
• Weekly Tuition: $125
Child Care Subsidy Accepted (families may contact Child Care Resources to determine eligibility.)
Adventure Academy is more than extended care; it’s an extension of excellence.
