Two events are currently scheduled in LaFayette and Lanett to celebrate Juneteenth this year.

LAFAYETTE — The city of LaFayette and Krave Korner have partnered together to host the second annual block party and parade on June 19. Line-up for the parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. at 700 1st St. Southeast in LaFayette.
The parade will start at 5 p.m. and the block party will be held until 8 p.m. at 129 LaFayette St. South. The event will include music, food, vendors and a cookoff between local “grillmasters.”
Applications from vendors are being accepted.
There is no sign up for the parade and donations will be taken up during the parade line up.

LANETT — The Greater Valley Juneteenth Festival will also be held on June 19 starting at 4 p.m. and running until 8 p.m.
This event will be held at 200 S. 8th Ave. in Lanett ( the playground across from W.O. Lance Middle School.)
Following the festival there will be fireworks at Lanett Mill parking lot.
“The whole event is free,” said Ashley Holloway, Juneteenth Community Festival Chair during the kickoff event on June 1. “We will have free food for the kids. We will have fun giveaways, prizes [and] adult entertainment. Most of all, we want you guys to come out and just celebrate […] just celebrate freedom, just be free, just be yourself.”
