The varsity Opelika High School football team (7A, Region 2) lost to the reigning four-time state champion Thompson High School (7A, Region 3), 44-13, in the AHSAA’s annual Kickoff Classic game at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery Thursday, Aug. 24.
