“The front door of Auburn” just got an upgrade.
Guests of The Hotel at Auburn University are now welcomed with newly-renovated hotel rooms that maximize space, highlight specially-curated artwork and bring technology to the forefront of the guest experience.
The Hotel has undergone an extensive renovation of all 236 guestrooms and suites over the past year.
“We took the time to really listen to our guests and understand what they were looking for, as well as staying on top of hospitality trends, so that we could maximize the renovation and create a superior guest experience,” said Hans van der Reijden, managing director. “The result is six floors of completely redesigned hotel rooms and suites unique to Auburn.”
When guests enter the rooms, they are greeted with a 55-inch smart TV, complete with various streaming service capabilities. Rooms and furniture are designed to maximize space and efficiency – each piece of furniture can be arranged through easy-to-maneuver casters. Additional outlets – both power and USB – allow guests to fully charge, however they are using the space. Each room is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, safe and Nespresso machine, and carpet has been removed in favor of wood and tile floors.
Bathrooms have been upgraded with double fixture showerheads and backlit vanities, providing exceptional lighting for getting ready.
But perhaps the most noticeable renovation is in the rooms’ artwork.
“The Auburn story is ingrained in our community, and a special part of our history,” van der Reijden said. “We wanted to honor that history by featuring Auburn through the decades, floor by floor.”
Each room features a wall mural with a map of Auburn from the decade that corresponds to the room’s floor. For example, maps of Auburn in the 1940s adorn focal walls on the fourth floor, all printed from the Auburn University library archives. Additionally, artwork has been specially-curated to highlight the community and artists.
“The room renovation is an exciting upgrade to our hotel, letting our guests further enjoy Auburn’s only AAA Four Diamond hotel,” van der Reijden said. “As our community reopens after a challenging 18 months, we are looking forward to welcoming guests in this beautiful new space.”
