Letter to the Community: Thanks for memorable events

2024-12-14 Victorian Front Porch Tour

I just want to mention to you how proud I am for our beautiful city of Opelika. We have had recently a really spectacular Christmas parade, a delightful Snopelika, the tree lighting in Courthouse Square, Christmas in a Railroad Town, Collinwood Luminaries, concerts, and last night [Dec.14] we enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous Victorian Front Porch Tour.
What a tribute to our city, neighborhoods and faithful workers who truly dedicated themselves to these events. The neighborhood tour was spectacular and was brought about by so many working together with the artist Jan Jones who this year recreated and re-freshened the porch figures and porch settings. Thank you to so many volunteers who put together a lovely tribute to the homes, churches, businesses, city and home owners, but, most of all hats off to the individuals and groups who gave of their time, talents and treasure to bring us all a beautiful and blessed Christmas Season. Thanks also goes out to the Museum of East Alabama for its role in events.
Opelika is truly a lovely city in which to live. I’ve often said if you love Opelika, she will love you back and last night walking the historic neighborhood, I truly felt her loving me back. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who have given us a very memorable Christmas Season. Each of you did a super great job!
Merry Christmas to all!
Dora James, proud resident of glorious Opelika
