Youth Earn Awards at Alabama National Fair

Senior Division Premier Exhibitor Contest winners in the Youth Swine Show at the Alabama National Fair in Montgomery Oct. 10 were from left Allie Johnson of Woodland in Randolph County, first place; Whitney Herren of Woodland in Randolph County, second place; Caroline Belcher of Auburn in Lee County, third place; Matthew Dover of Ohatchee in Calhoun County, fourth place; and Mackenzie Johnson of Alexandria in Calhoun County, fifth place. The Premier Exhibitor Contest combines a written test, livestock evaluation and showmanship. Livestock shows at the Alabama National Fair are sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance.

Jewel Thompson of Lee County exhibited the Champion Bred & Owned Shorthorn during the Heifer Show at the Youth Beef Cattle Show at the Alabama National Fair Oct. 17 in Montgomery. The show was sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance. She is pictured with judge Brad Bennett of Cookeville, Tennessee.
Victoria Thompson of Opelika in Lee County exhibited the Champion Shorthorn Heifer in the Alfa Farmers Jackpot Beef Show at the Alabama National Fair Oct. 18.
Walton Epperson of Opelika in Lee County exhibited the Overall Reserve Champion Commercial Doe in the Youth Goat Show during the Alabama National Fair in Montgomery Oct. 17.
He also won a ribbon and banner for exhibiting the Overall Reserve Champion Percentage Doe.
The judge for the Youth Goat Show was MaKayla Richardson of Bloomfield, Kentucky.
