The Opelika Chiefs, ranked #5 in the APDFL, advanced to a 3-0 seasons record with a decisive 59-6 win over the Tuscaloosa Panthers last Saturday at Beulah Stadium.
The Chiefs are back on the road this week for a game with the #13 Atlanta Tigers

at Kendrick Park in Jonesboro, Ga. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.(CDT). That’s 3:30 Georgia time.
The Chiefs scored first Saturday night but the Panthers took the ensuing kickoff and marched right down the field against the Chiefs’ vaunted defense for a touchdown of their own.
The surprised Chiefs defenders pulled themselves together after this and the Panthers did not mount another sustained drive the rest of the night.
Chiefs’ MVPs for the game were wide receiver Tracy Brooks for the offense and Jamie Happney, 250 pound defensive end for the defense.
Brooks ended the night with eight receptions for 145 yards and two TDs. He added another 104 yards and one TD on kickoff returns, not a bad night’s work.
Happney helped lead the Chiefs’ defense which gave up only 62 total yards all night, with most of that coming on one drive. Happney recorded two individual tackles and returned an interception for a TD.
