Toby James

Mr. Toby James, 83 of Opelika, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 3, 2019 in Opelika. Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Burial followed at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, May 6, 2019 beginning at 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mr. James is predeceased by his loving wife Martha Pearline James; parents, Ethel Laura James and Homer Blanton James; sister, Doris Patterson; brother, Frank James.
Mr. James is survived by his sister Evelyn Kiker; grandniece, Charlotte Patterson; step sons: Clarence Murphy, Larry (Jan) Murphy, and Cleve (Teresa) Murphy, along with a host of numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. James was best known from his career running Swan’s Restaurant. He was also known for managing the Lazy-B. Mr. James was also the Co-Owner of the Tiger Express. Mr. James was a member of Pepperell Baptist Church.
