Thomas “Tommy” W. Tucker, Sr. of Opelika, Alabama passed away on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at EAMC. He was born March 26, 1948 in Fort Payne, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Etta Kiker Tucker. He is survived by his wife Sharon Tucker, whom he loved very much; children: Timmie Tucker (Toni), Thomas Wayne Tucker, Jr. (Shawna), Heather Scarbrough; stepchildren: Amanda Cooper (Steven), Stacey Gaither, Jimmy Gaither (Nicole); eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The birth and death of this great man, is not nearly as relevant as all the days and nights that he lived life to the fullest. Tommy earned a business degree at Florida State University where he also played football for the FSU Seminoles. He was the owner of Tucker Paint Company in Opelika, Alabama. He was in the painting industry in which he took great pride, for over 50 years.

Tommy Tucker was a man of many words. He loved to tell stories and you could be sure that fifty percent of every story was true, you just never knew which fifty percent. Tommy will be greatly missed by many. The OA News doesn’t have enough paper to describe Tommy Tucker. He was definitely one of a kind.
