Mr. Thomas Leander McCormick passed away peacefully, surrounded and comforted by his family after a long battle with cancer at East Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 28 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

His stepson Keith Claridy and Nephew Rick McCormick Jr. officiated.

Mr. McCormick was born in Montgomery, Alabama, July 16, 1950, to the late E.J. and Grace McCormick.  He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy K. McCormick.

He was a professional truck driver by occupation, a proficient gardener who loved to can his bounty and share with many. Anyone who tried his pickled okra came back with an empty jar for more. His love of life and family was inexhaustible. He loved watching many children catch their first fish at his lake and never tired of untangling lines or putting new hooks on. He loved spending time with his wife and friends riding his Harley, exploring the roads and our country. His hobby of restoring furniture was a true gift.

Mr. McCormick was preceded by his parents, E.J. and Grace McCormick; his Aunt Betty Prestridge and Sister-in-law Ann McCormick.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Tami Lynn (Joe) Briskey; stepson Keith Claridy; grandsons John Thomas Stieber and Dalton Shane Arrington who were his heart.  Brother, Mark (Tina) Scott; Rick McCormick; Gene (Bette) McCormick and sisters Susan (Bill) Goff and Nancy (Roger) Atkins.

He also leaves behind a Precious Aunt, Joann (Charles) Hamner, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
