Trinity students Grayson Scott and Josh Hartsell were invited by the Auburn Heritage Association to play Taps during the 11th Pine Hill Cemetery Lantern Tour. Pine Hill Cemetery was established in 1837 and is the oldest in the city of Auburn. A marker stands at the common graves of 98 Texas soldiers who died in a temporary military hospital located in a college building. Both students played for one night each at the Confederate marker as part of the tour. Scott, a sophomore, has played the trumpet in Trinity’s band for six years and Hartsell, an 8th grader, for four years; both are leading members of the Advanced Band and Jazz Band at Trinity. Trinity student Sara Caitlin Godwin was named first runner- up at the Distinguished Young Women of Lee County Competition, which judges fitness, talent, poise, academics, and interview skills. Godwin, a senior, also received a talent award for her “Charlie Brown” medley performance on the piano. She was ultimately given $1,000 in general scholarship money and offered a full scholarship to Troy University. Scott, Hartsell, and Godwin well represent the talent, academic vigor, and dedication habitually found in Trinity students.
