The L.E.A.P.S. Academy and Mentorship Program is eager to host the annual Mother/Son Picnic on May 29 at Kiesel Park.

Bring your son, a blanket or a few chairs and enjoy some fun activities, live music and yummy food from 12-3 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per couple on tickettailor.com and will be available until the day of the picnic.

Extra children, including daughters, are invited as well, for $5 per extra child.

The picnic will feature softball, basketball and football toss, a train for children to ride around the park and a special appearance from Auburn University mascot, Aubie the Tiger.

Chick-fil-A will be available at the event with nuggets, chicken strips, waters, lemonade and tea, as well as a KONA Ice truck.

Auburn Police Department Lieutenant and L.E.A.P.S. President, Gregory Johnson, founded this event as Mother-Son Date Night a few years ago for mothers to have an event to attend with their sons, similar to a father-daughter dance.

Due to COVID-19, the event is altered this year to respect social distancing and the safety of their attendees.

“We would love to have everybody come out with their sons and enjoy a good event since everything is opening up,” Johnson said.
