Touch up your resumé and freshen up your wardrobe, it’s Workforce Development Month. Throughout this month, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System is helping people fine tune their skills to better prepare them to navigate today’s job market.

Emily Hines, an Alabama Extension financial resource management and workforce development regional agent, said the team is working in many ways to bring education to Alabama residents.

“The financial resource management and workforce development team plays a vital role in the education of Alabama residents,” Hines said. “Through community education around the state, we are helping to equip residents with the tools necessary to join the workforce.”

JOB SEARCH PREPARATION WORKSHOPS

One of the ways that Extension is providing education is through the Job Search Preparation workshop. This workshop is held in multiple locations throughout the year. These learning opportunities are free to attend and can help people prepare to enter the workforce with confidence.

“The Job Search Preparation workshop is a series of three sessions that focus on career choices, resumé writing and interview skills,” she said. “Whether these skills are new to you, or you just need refresher tips, these workshops can add value to the job search toolkit.”

More information about this workshop is available in the September is Workforce Development Month content piece on the Alabama Extension website.
