The city of Smiths Station will hold a Clock Tower Dedication Ceremony on April 2 at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

Located in front of the Smiths Station Government Center, the clock tower was installed to honor the legacy of the city’s first Mayor, LaFaye Dellinger, who served from the city’s incorporation in 2001 until 2016.

Dellinger’s daughter Melissa Gauntt successfully applied for a grant from the Alabama Power
Foundation last year for this project, which nearly covered the entire cost of the project. Later this year, the city’s Historical Commission will launch a fundraiser to help purchase benches to place on both sides of the clock tower.
The Smiths Station City Council and Mayor F. L. “Bubba” Copeland, along with other local officials, will attend this event.

The Smiths Station Government Center is located at 2336 Panther Parkway (Lee Road 430) in downtown Smiths Station.
