Smiths Station’s losing streak continued Friday night as the Panthers were stymied 25-10 by the visiting Generals of Robert E. Lee.
The Panthers turned in another stagnant offensive performance against the Generals, compiling 132 yards of total offense. Quarterback Corey Minton finished 5-of-12 passing for 12 yards but added 77 on the ground.
Robert E. Lee contained the Panthers’ no. 1 runner L.C. Harris all night, limiting him to -3 yards on five carries. Senior running back Jara Nelms stepped up, contributing 36 yards on seven carries.
No defensive stats were available from this game.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 2-3 overall, 0-3 in region play. Smiths Station will travel to Millbrook next Friday night to take on the Mustangs of Stanhope Elmore, who are 4-1 overall and are coming off a 26-0 shutout of Shades Valley. Foshee-Henderson Stadium is located at 4300 Main St. in Millbrook.
