Selena Daniel, the reigning Ms. Senior Lee County, was chosen first alternate in the 2014 Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant, held in September at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

Daniel is retired from the Opelika Housing Authority and operates her own real estate firm in Opelika. She does volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County, Habitat for Humanity, East Alabama Food Bank and the American Red Cross. She also serves as a representative with the Alabama Silver-haired Legislature.

Daniel is the recipient of state and local awards, which include: Realtor of the Year in ’98, ’06 and ’07; Alabama Senior Citizens’ Hall of Fame; Small Business of the Quarter in ’08; and Boys and Girls Clubs Youth Award.

Daniel’s talent was a presentation of Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise.”

If for any reason the winner, Renee Pierce, Ms. Senior Marshall County, is unable to fulfill her duties, then Daniel would take her place.

Ms. Senior Alabama will participate in the Ms. Senior America Pageant, which will be held at the Resorts Casino and Hotel on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, N.J., Oct. 30.

The Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant and Program is a nonprofit organization that recognizes the talent, intelligence, usefulness, community service and beauty of Alabama’s senior women.

The winner will represent the state of Alabama in the Ms. Senior America Pageant at the Resorts Casino and Hotel on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
