Retired Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Michael Jeffers, United States Marine Corps, passed away on Sept. 10, 2021, at the age of 58. “Gunny J” was born on Dec. 29, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Richard and Anna Jeffers.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired after 22 years while in the Marine Corps, he received many medals, badges and ribbons, including Navy and Marine Corps Commendation metal with 1 Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, sea service deployment with a Silver Star and a Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

After honorably serving his country, Tom continued to serve his community as a JROTC Instructor at Jefferson Davis High School from 2004 until 2007 in Montgomery, Alabama where he touched the hearts, minds and lives of many students. He loved meeting new people and everyone he met knew him as a friend. He loved Elvis and was a lover of music and karaoke, Tom was known for his commanding presence and beautiful voice.

Tom is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 10 years, Kristin Jeffers; sons, John Allen Jeffers, Brandon Jeffers and Michael Jeffers; grandchildren, McKenna, Cienna, Dawnlin, Elijah, Liam and Logan.

Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home and a graveside followed in Garden Hills Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
