Patsy Ledbetter, formerly of Opelika, passed away on Jan. 9, 2021.

She was born in Columbus, Georgia, and graduated from Baker High School in 1959. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Troy University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church where she volunteered for multiple organizations within the church. She had a love for children that was unsurpassed. She retired from Auburn University where she worked in the library, and helped her husband Jimmy with his businesses.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Princie Smitherman, her husband Jimmy Ledbetter, her son Marshall Todd Hood Sr. and her sister Kathryn Smitherman Shaw.

She is survived by her son, Michael Hood Ledbetter; grandchildren, John Hood, Jacob Ledbetter (SakilChundydyal), Mitch Ledbetter, Brooke Potter (KJ Potter) as well as multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to COVID concerns, there will be no visitation. A small graveside service was held on Jan. 14, 2021 at Noon at Garden Hills Cemetery with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating.
