The Smiths Station boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams played host to Central Phenxi City on Friday in the Panthers’ first region game of the season. The boys narrowly defeated the Red Devils 72-65 to improve to 13-7 overall; the girls dropped the game to move to 7-8 overall. Both teams faced off against Auburn Tuesday night, with the boys winning 69-66, and the girls falling to the Tigers.
