Opelika Radio names Luanne Helms ‘Opelikan of the Year’

Photo by Robert Noles Luanne Helms was recognized Tuesday as Opelika Radio’s ‘Opelikan of the Year’ live on-air. “At Opelika Radio, a couple of weeks ago, we decided that we were going to recognize one person every year with a special award and that person is someone I would consider an ordinary person that does extraordinary things,” said Kyle Sandler, owner of OpelikaRadio.com. “It takes a special kind of person to put their needs on the backburner to help others and we’ve seen that at the Roundhouse.” Sandler said Helms has organized various events in the community in 2015, including the Angels Riding for Autism this spring at Spring Villa Park and the First Responders Autism training class in August.
