For the Opelika Observer

Maggie Caraway is one of five interns at the Opelika Observer this summer. Coming from her hometown of Spanish Fort, Alabama, Maggie is set to graduate in August of this year from Auburn University. She is finishing her education with a major in communications and a minor in sociology.

Upon graduating, Maggie said she hopes to work her way up to writing for a magazine like Southern Living. More specifically, Maggie wants to write in the food section, much akin to the Buzzfeed-born Tasty.

“I love food [and] I love recipes,” Maggie said. “But I also love to write, so that’s why I’m here.”

In her spare time, Maggie said she loves to read, write and, of course, cook. Recently, Maggie baked a vanilla cake, topped with strawberries, while at home in Spanish Fort with her family.

When in Auburn, she said she loves to dine at Arigato Sushi Boutique. Her favorite dish to order there is the Cherry Blossom sushi.

When she is not enjoying good cuisine, Maggie is watching one of her favorite cooking shows. These include The Pioneer Woman, Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Table and anything from Food Network.

After her time at the Opelika Observer and post-graduation, Maggie plans to “just go wherever the wind takes me.”
