For the Opelika Observer

Kinley Beshers is one of the five interns this summer for the Opelika Observer. She is from Concord, Georgia, and working her way through Auburn’s journalism program while also minoring in sports management.

Beshers hopes to build her portfolio and writing skills as her August graduation looms over her shoulder; she also wants to tackle the world of feature writing.

After graduation, Beshers has bigger ventures ahead: grad school. Beshers plans to head home in August and take a few pre-requisites.

This upcoming Auburn graduate hopes to attend Georgia Tech’s graduate program involving earth and atmospheric sciences as she makes her break in meteorology.

One thing she said she remembers from her childhood is her dad’s dream to become a meteorologist. Next thing you know, she is picking it up right where he left off.

“I honestly love all things weather,” Beshers said. “I can really see myself working in this field.”

From climatology to chemistry, Beshers realized she had a true passion for math, science and all things writing. After much debate, she found that journalism could be the connection among her passions.

Beshers is also incredibly thankful for her time at Auburn as it comes to a close.

“I’m just going to miss that small-town feeling this place has,” Beshers said.

The comfort mixed with tremendous work opportunities helped her become her own person. Not to mention, the Auburn-Opelika community is just beautiful.

Tag along and see Beshers’s writing grow on her latest adventures with the Opelika Observer.
