Opelika Main Street will be celebrating the Halloween season on Oct. 29 with the first-ever Downtown Opelika Drive Thru Trick or Treat event.

This event, presented by Point Broadband, will allow families to drive through a select portion of Historic Downtown Opelika, receiving candy while in their cars.

Attendees are encouraged to decorate their cars, and all are required to stay in their cars through the entire route. Halloween music will also be played at the event by iHeart Radio over a special radio station.

“This unique event is a way we can bring trick or treating to our community while maintaining social distancing,” said Opelika Main Street Executive Director Ken Ward. “Downtown businesses will also be showcased ahead of the busy holiday shopping season.”

The event will run from 6-9 p.m. with the entrance at Avenue E and South 7th Street. There is no charge to attend the event.

Event sponsors include: Point Broadband, Arbor Springs Health and Rehab, Stone Martin Builders and the city of Opelika Parks and Recreation Department.
