The Opelika Chiefs returned to the win column last Saturday night with a 20-18 triumph over the #1 ranked Metro Atlanta Horsemen in Atlanta.
The Chiefs’ MVPs for the game-five win are Ki-Shawn Powell and Vashon Landers. Powell, one of this year’s new players, from Reeltown,  had nine carries for 43 yards and one touchdown. He also completed two passes for 51 yards.  Defensive MVP Vashon Landers lead the defense with eight total tackles, including two tackles for loss.
The rest of the Chiefs’ scoring came on two long passes from back-up quarterback Raymond Graham, one to Rodney Johnson for 24 yards, and the other a 62-yarder to Ralph Spry.
Chiefs’ Coach Hunter Price said he was proud of the way his team responded after losing by one point to the Prattville Patriots two weeks ago. Price added, “The Prattville loss was the first regular season loss this team has ever had in its three seasons of existence.”
The entire APDFL takes Easter weekend off so that players, coaches and fans can be with their families and worship in their home churches.
The Chiefs will return to action at home at Beulah High School Stadium at 7 p.m. April 22 to take on in-state rival Alabama Spartans from Troy.
