The Class 6A Section Two Cross Country meet was held at Kiesel Park in Auburn last week for both girls and boys teams.

Girls

Emma Garner finished first and won the individual championship to lead OHS’s team to a fourth place finish with a fantastic time of 19:50.42, a full 48 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

The results of the rest of the team: Adrianna Anthony finished 15th with a time of 22:26.36, Tanishya Jones finished 24th with a time of 23:15.28, Kelcie Carpenter placed 27th with a 23:27.35 time and Anna Lazenby placed 51st with a time of 27:12.50.

Auburn won the meet, followed by Enterprise, Smiths Staion and Opelika.

Boys

Opelika’s Cordaryl Whitehead continued to dominate the 2011 cross country season by winning the Class 6A Section Two meet and helping the Bulldogs team finish second in the meet. The senior continued to stay undefeated on the year by winning the meet with a time of 16:24.94. The Bulldogs had several runners who helped them almost win the meet. James Ray Thrash posted a 17:29.39 time to finish seventh, Kane Barrett finished ninth with a 17:31.59 time and Shakiel Parker ran an 18:03.69 to finish 12th. Other Bulldog runners included Kevin Lazenby 18:45.32 (21st), Ben Bryant 19:02.39 (27th), Kyler Gillock 19:07.87 (28th); Logan Pridgen 19:42.18 (38th); Andrew Bartlett 19:54.39 (41st) and Chazden Blackmon 20:13.14 (43rd).
