Tom Plott, OHS Alumni Association Vice-President (Scholarships) presented the Robert L. Howard and the Jim Voss awards to Mallory Veasey and Anna Brown on Awards Day at Opelika High.
Veasey demonstrated a strong work ethic through her dedication to academics.  With a grade point average of 3.9, she was a member of Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society; National Technical Honor Society; and National Society of High School Scholars.  At graduation Veasey received an advanced diploma with honors.
Mallory is also an extremely valuable asset to our school community and the community at large, exhibiting her dedication and service through many organizations. She currently attends Trinity United Methodist Church and is the daughter of Mike and Marcy Veasey.
Anna Brown, recipient of the Jim Voss award, ranked in the top one percent of her graduating class with a 4.18 GPA.  Anna maintained all A’s throughout her entire high school career, pursuing a rigorous course curriculum including Advanced Placement classes.
Her accomplishments have earned her membership in National Honor Society; Science National Honor Society; Mu Alpha Theta and she is a Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership representative.
Brown was also a member of the OHS Spirit of the South Marching Band, Ovations Showchoir, Student Government Association and OHS swim team.  She was chosen to represent Opelika as the 2015-2016 Miss OHS.
Anna attends First United Methodist Church of Opelika where she teaches music to preschoolers.  She is the daughter of  Bill and Becky Brown.
