The Opelika Observer brought home four awards in this year’s Alabama Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.
Staff articles won second place in Best Spot News Coverage and first and second places in Best Feature Story Coverage and 3rd  place in websites for Division D. Division D includes weekly newspapers with fewer than 5,000 in circulation.
The Observer also placed third in Best Newspaper Website.
The awards were announced at the Alabama Press Association awards banquest ending the annual convention held in Destin, Fla. June 16-18.
Observer editor Fred Woods said he is proud of the awards and the recognition reflects the hard work of all who make  up the Observer staff.
