Olga B. Hough

Mrs. Olga B. Hough, 90, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab Center in Opelika, Alabama. Olga was born February 24, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Ernest H. and Olga E. Broadwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Hough, a sister, Virginia Dukenfield, and her beloved spaniel, Tipper. She is survived by her brother, Ernest H. Broadwater (Linda), daughter, Pamela G. Yuill (Graham), three grandchildren, Katherine Howard (Ben Ziller), Thomas Yuill (Miranda Burnette) and Austin Yuill, a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Olga graduated from Temple University in 1951. In 1979, she earned her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from The Ohio State University. She was a dedicated professor, a tireless volunteer in her community and church and a beloved mother and nana. She loved to cook and entertain, and had a way of making everyone feel appreciated and special. Upon retirement, she and her husband, John, moved to Panama City Beach, Fla. where they started Beach Care Services, an organization that provides emergency assistance to people in need. They relocated to Opelika, Alabama in 2002 to be close to family, where Olga continued to be generous, welcoming, and charitable. She lived her motto that Work is Love Made Visible.
