Funeral service for Lesia Walton, 48, of Opelika, AL, was at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 432 Maple Street, Opelika, AL 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Reverend Roger Jones officiated.
Ms. Walton, who passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born January 12, 1969 in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing was Thursday, November 9, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Family hour was from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Ms. Walton lay in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include: five children, Torrence Walton of Opelika, AL, Kendra Walton of Auburn, AL, Janautica Piett, Escreanna Richmond and Elexiz Richmond all of Opelika, AL; step-father, John Mitchell of Auburn, AL; four grandchildren, Skeiyah Walton, Skendiah Walton, Skeviah Walton and Skiyah Walton all of Auburn, AL; three brothers, Henry (Linda) Buckhannon, Jerry (Shavia) Walton of Opelika, AL and Tony (NaToisha) Walton of Auburn, AL; two sisters, Janice Banks and Kristy Walton both of Opelika, AL; two step-brothers, James Oliver of Opelika, AL and David Love of Loachapoka, AL; a step-sister, Brenda Mennifee of Opelika, AL; a special aunt, Linda Buckhannon of Opelika, AL; a special cousin, Bobbie Lynn Wagner of Columbus, GA; four uncles, Elbert Buckhannon of Syracuse, NY, Bobby (Henrietta) Buckhannon of Opelika, AL, Eddie (Annie) Buckhannon of Notasulga, AL and Robert Walton of Birmingham, AL; two aunts, Myrtis Smith of Columbus, GA and Deborah Reese of Opelika, AL; two great-aunts, Annie Kate Williams of Chicago, IL and Lucy Walton of Birmingham, AL; special friends, April Preston, Bernice Benton, Sonya Dunlap, Belinda Reese, Janice Lazaro Escobar and Jodie Baker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
