Funeral service for Gene Core, 68, of Opelika, AL, was 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Reverend Roger L. Jones officiated.
Mr. Core, who passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab Center in Opelika, was born October 14, 1948 in Chambers County, Alabama.
Public viewing was Friday, September 22, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Survivors include: two children, Regina Core (Richard) Timmons and Darren Butler both of Syracuse, NY; six brothers, Rubin Lyons, Jerry Core both of Augusta, GA, Rev. David Lee (Emma) Core of Cusseta, AL, Arthur Core of Opelika, AL, Jessie Core of Alexander City, AL and John Nathan Core of Tuskegee, AL; three sisters, Fannie King, Patricia (John) Williams and Mary Swanson all of Opelika, AL; one aunt, Betty Jones of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Victoria, Reahna, Laquon, Rhmel, LiDarren, Jr., Darrel, Raeil, and Devon; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
