On Sunday, January 28, 2018, Carol Salmons, a beloved sister in Christ joined Jesus in Heaven at her home in Opelika, AL. Carol was very faithful in 38 years of marriage to Paul, her kindness and provision as a mother to Jonathan and Matthew, and her love for Christ and His Word. And though there is much grief, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. This is possible because of God’s promise that Carol was His and He did not let her go.
She was born in Lynchburg, VA to Tom and Besty Upshur. Through a navy transfer to Pensacola, FL she met her beloved husband Paul Salmons and later moved to Opelika, AL where they raised two precious children, Jonathan and Mathew. She was blessed with a heart of serving and a creative mind. Carol’s ministry stands out most in the area of elder care and through many ministries in the Opelika / Auburn area including the Salvation Army and The Way To Serve Ministry. Through the years she also served as a elementary school teacher and then as a teacher to her two sons. She had a gift of helping children and the elderly and loved arts and craft project work. She was truly blessed in serving others. We will miss her immensely, but with very fond memories.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Betsy Cox and Thomas T. Upshur of Lynchburg, Va. She is survived by her loving husband Paul and sons Jonathan (Jessica) and Matthew (Allie). Siblings: Fontaine Nolan (Charles) Greensboro, N.C, Tom Jr. (Marjette), Elizabeth Upshur, Diana Smack (Kent) of Lynchburg, VA. Beloved nephiews: Taylor and Stephen Smack, Chris Nolan, Scott Upshur, Juanita Carlton, Joe Salmons, and many beloved friends and loved ones.
