NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

OPELIKA CITY COUNCIL

October 20, 2015 7:00 P.M.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in accordance with §23-4-2, Code of Alabama, 1975, that the City Council of the City of Opelika will hold a Public Hearing during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 204 S. 7th Street, Opelika, Lee County, Alabama, to receive the benefit of public input concerning a proposal to vacate the portion of King Street lying between Century Boulevard and a 100 foot wide utility easement, as shown on Operell Subdivision, according to and as shown by map or plat of said subdivision of record in Plat Book 3, at page 21 in the Office of Judge of Probate of Lee County, Alabama. All persons interested in the proposed vacation are invited to appear at the public hearing and express their views.  Written statements or objections may be submitted to the City Clerk prior to the time of the hearing.

The portion of King Street to be vacated is more particularly described as follows:

All that certain tract or parcel of land located in and being a part of Section 13, Township 19 North, Range 26 East, Opelika, Lee County, Alabama, and being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at the Northwest corner of Parcel “A-2”, Century Park Subdivision, a Re-division of Parcels A & B, according to and as shown by map or plat of said subdivision of record in Plat Book 32, at Page 76 in the Office of the Judge of Probate of Lee County, Alabama also being the POINT of BEGINNING; thence along the Southern right of way of Century Boulevard N89˚23’35”W 60.00 feet; thence leaving mentioned right of way S00˚37’00”W 627.10 feet; thence N89˚55’21”E 60.00 feet to the Southwest corner of Parcel “A-2” Century Park Subdivision, A Re-division of Parcels A & B, according to and as shown by map or plat of said subdivision of record in Plat Book 32, at Page 76, in the Office of Judge Probate of Lee County, Alabama; thence along west line of mentioned Parcel N00˚37’00”E 626.39 feet to the POINT of BEGINNING.  The above described property being a portion of King Street as shown on Operell Subdivision, according to and as shown by map or plat of said subdivision of record in Plat Book 3, at Page 21 in the Office of the Judge of Probate of Lee County, Alabama.

A copy of the Petition to Vacate and the proposed resolution approving the vacation will be available upon the request at the office of the City Clerk, 2nd Floor of City Hall, 204 South 7th Street, Opelika, Alabama.
