Last Friday, Opelika kicked off a new program called “All Pro Dads.” The All Pro Dads is a program that started in 1997.

Tony Dungy and other football players started this program to help dads and kids see the importance of having positive male role models for kids. Northside and other Opelika Schools had their first meeting on Dec. 2. The schools had breakfast for the kids and dads. They ate chicken biscuits at Northside and the moms were not allowed to attend.

They had a raffle that had many prizes. The prizes were checkers, Capri-Suns and free oil changes.

Grayson Smith, a third grader in Ms. Powers class, said he had a fun time and enjoyed himself.

“It was the bomb,” Smith said.

Dads and kids read, “Conversation Cards” to help them talk to each other. The dads have a challenge to do with their kids during the month of December. Meetings will happen every month on the first Friday.
