A funeral service for Mary Lockett Mullins Benson, 94, of Opelika was held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 13, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverends Earl Ballard and David Warren officiated. Visitation was held Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Benson was born Oct. 3, 1917. She had lived all of her life in Lee County. She was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a Pink Lady at East Alabama Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Millard “Red” Mullins; second husband J.W. Benson; daughter, Mary Jill Owens and grandson, William P. Fuller, Jr.

Survivors include daughters, Alice Kaye (William) Fuller of Opelika, Amy M. (Arthur J.) Morissette of Auburn; son-in-law, Sonny Owens; six grandsons and 10 great grandchildren.
