In response to Cliff McCollum’s opinions, “Love thy neighbor? What’s his party affiliation?”, I feel compelled to inject some observations on some of his claims and musings. First of all, and lets get the easy one out of the way, Bernie Sanders is an admitted socialist.

Further, Mr. McCollum might want to visit the Drudge Report and observe where most of his postings originate from. The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times and the Boston Globe aren’t exactly bastions of conservatism. And while Fox News commentating (The O’Reilly Factor and Sean Hannity) are rooted in conservatism, I have found The Special Report with Bret Baier, which is a news report, to be “fair, balanced and unafraid” airing storys you would be lucky to see on any other network, like Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the ACORN scandal, Solyndra and most recently “The Fast and Furious” debacle.

Oh sure the other networks eventually get around to something on these stories just to save face but after all, that’s their guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So please Mr. McCollum, add CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN and PBS to your list of liberal slants MSNBC and the Huffington Post.

Mr. Collum further claimed that “We all love freedom, liberty, the flag, babies, apple pie and Evel Knievel.”

Fact is many American’s will trade their freedom and liberty for security any day of the week. Look at Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid, government schools and the newest and worst ever, Obama care. You lose freedoms and liberty with all of these bureaucracies and hundreds more. Yes most of us love the flag, apple pie and Evel Knievel is debatable but babies aren’t. Liberals love abortion. It’s the foundational issue of the Democratic Party and to state that we should “discuss things like grown, rational individuals” is laughable. Can any liberal show me the logic or rationale in allowing an innocent, unborn, human being to be killed while opposing the execution of a guilty convicted murderer? What about the enslavement of generations of people through cradle to grave welfare? There are more people on food stamps now than in the history of this country and these programs are designed for the purpose of keeping the recipients voting for the politicians who gave them their livelihood.

So when Mr. McCollum can show me some logic and rationale in socialist programs, I will be glad to bring the pie and coffee. Until then, nice touchy feely try but come back when 2 + 2 = 4 and not 5, as some government schools have suggested.
