A funeral service for Julia V. Huling of Opelika, was held on Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Opelika. The Reverend Tim Thompson is officiated. Visitation was held at the church prior to the funeral service. A private burial will be held at Rosemere Cemetery.

Mrs. Huling was born on July 23, 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama, and went to be with the Lord on Nov. 19. She was a music teacher for Opelika City Schools for 27 years and a devoted member of First Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She also taught piano lessons to many children in the Auburn – Opelika area, who became like her children.

She was proceeded in death by her brother Frank C. Varner, Jr., her son Fletcher Huling, and her granddaughter Laura Leigh Tye.  She is survived by her husband Bobby Huling,  her brothers Charlie and Robert Varner ( Arlene), daughter Libby Tye, sons Rob Huling (Leah) and John Huling (Brigitte)  Grandchildren, Davis ( Michelle) Keith (Meredith) Tye, Anne Marie, Andy, Hannah, Sadie Anne, Seth and Rachel Huling, great granddaughter Marjie Tye.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
