Mr. Jerry L. Wilhite, 76, of Opelika passed away Nov. 14 at his home. Graveside services were at 11 a.m., on Nov. 17 at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the graveside service at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

He was a longtime resident of Opelika.  Jerry worked at Davis-Dyar, Ampex and was owner/operator of Wilhite Electric. He was enlisted in the Army National Guard from 1965-71.  In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed riding horses, helping his family and friends resolve all their automotive, construction and plumbing issues and playing with his grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, dad, brother, son and grandfather.  Jerry will be missed tremendously by family and friends. 

Mr. Wilhite is preceded in death by his: wife, Loretta Wilhite,  brothers,  Freddie and Doug Wilhite, parents,  Dumah “Shorty” and Josephine “Joe” Wilhite; survived by his sons: Jeff Wilhite of Wetumpka, Terry Wilhite of Auburn, Jerry (Nikki) Wilhite, Jr. of Beauregard; siblings: Robbin Wilhite of Opelika; and six grandchildren.
