The Gander brand is set to return to Opelika this spring.
In a press release on Jan. 4, Camping World Holdings announced that Gander Outdoors, previously known as Gander Mountain, will open 69 locations nationwide, including one in Opelika.
The new store will reopen in Gander Mountain’s prior location at 1640 Parker Way, outside of Tiger Town.
Camping World Holdings, based in Lincolnshire, Ill., finalized the acquisition of the hunting and outdoor goods company in May 2017.
“It was important to me to bring Gander Outdoors back to many wonderful communities across the country because the employees are top notch and the stores provide great products and services for the community,” said Camping World Holdings Chairman Marcus Lemonis. “Our great team at the headquarters in Bloomington, Minn., has been working tirelessly over the past six months to get the locations prepared and we are extremely excited to begin the rapid opening process and hope to open all locations this spring.”
