The weekend of Jan. 31 will see Lewis Cooper Jr. Memorial Library transformed into an 18-hole mini-golf course for the “Caddy Stacks: A Mini Golf Fundraiser.”
Proceeds will benefit the library’s nonprofit branch Friends of the Cooper Library. Each ticket purchased is tax deductible.
Library Director Rosanna McGinnis said this is the first time the venue has had an event like this and is excited to showcase the facility to the public.
“The money raised is used for many small-scale things like refreshments at library programs, performers for children’s programs and awards at summer reading programs, but fundraising efforts to support the upcoming construction project at the library are also gearing up,” McGinnis said. “I am most excited that the golf course will be set up throughout the library and people might be taken to floors and rooms they didn’t know existed. Many people don’t realize we actually have three floors, so I’m excited for people to explore the whole space.”
Friday will be open to adults only, with tickets costing $25 each. Starting at 6:30 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and “mocktails” during their time on the course. Included in the cost of each ticket is entry into an after-party from 8 to 11 p.m. at Red Clay Brewing Company and two beverage tickets. Opelika’s own Dallas Dorsey will provide live entertainment that evening.
Saturday’s event will be catered to families. Costing $5 per person, they will be able to enjoy a full day of mini-golf within the library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
