The first Love U (Unlimited) Day event is taking place at Opelika’s Monkey Park on Aug. 20, from 12-4 p.m.
The LoveULoveU organization, started by Mobile resident Monique Henley, is an organization founded on the concept of its namesake: love. The Love U Day event will be held in various locations across Alabama, and it will be a day of food, music, dance and fellowship.
Opelika’s Love U Day city captain and event organizer is Raven Harvis, and she said she has been busy promoting the event through both Facebook and word of mouth. Harvis said she hopes the event will leave a lasting impression on Opelika.
“I’m hoping that it will foster an environment of loving our neighbors no matter who they are, no matter what their background is, no matter what their ethnicity or religion is. It’s a day about loving each other and being kind,” Harvis said.
