It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of our loving Mother and Mimi, Evelyn McClendon Lawler 93 of Opelika on Aug. 21, 2021. She was blessed with such a kind heart and loving soul. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be – so He put His arms around you and whispered “Come to Me”.
Evelyn was born Oct. 15, 1927 in Opelika. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Kemper Lawler; parents Helen and Gene McClendon; brother Bob McClendon; and many other family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Mary Evelyn Lawler, grandchildren: Bart Russell (Ellie) and Lana Evelyn Spicer (Tim); daughter Bonnie Stinson, one grandson Dusty Stinson (Cassie), two great grandchildren: Eden and Cruz; niece Rosie Lawler Dudley; and many other family members and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers that gave such wonderful, tender care to their mother, it will never be forgotten. She loved you all so much.
Funeral services was held on Aug. 24, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating.
