Doris June Reeves, age 72, of Opelika, was born on Feb. 19, 1939, in South Pittsburg, Tenn. and died on Sept. 7, 2011, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was a school teacher for 35 years and loved to read.
Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, Merrion L. Reeves. She is survived by her daughter, Merri Lynn Gregory and husband David; three grandchildren, Brighton Lynn, Braden Reeves and Brylee Ruthanne Gregory.
A graveside service was held on Sept. 9, 2011, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport, Ala. at 3:30 p.m. Reverend David Gregory officiated. Visitation was held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tenn. from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. A local visitation was held on Sept. 8, 2011, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Fredericks Funeral Home.
